How the scam works

What happens

A caller impersonating a bank, software company, or fraud department persuades the victim to install remote-access software. The criminal then controls the device, observes credentials, and initiates transactions.

Example scenario
A “bank consultant” says fraud is in progress and asks you to install a screen-sharing application.
Example wording is illustrative and may differ from real scam messages.
