Frequently asked questions
Understand what ScamShield does, what it does not do, and how to respond safely to suspected fraud.
Is the analyzer artificial intelligence?+
No. This release uses transparent, weighted pattern rules to highlight common scam indicators such as urgency, credential requests, risky payment methods, account threats, and unrealistic returns. It is an educational screen, not a formal fraud decision.
Does a low-risk result mean a message is safe?+
No. Sophisticated fraud may avoid obvious keywords. Verify unexpected requests using an independently located official app, website, or telephone number.
Does ScamShield open links in pasted messages?+
No. The analyzer checks text patterns only. It does not visit, inspect, or validate linked websites.
Is my pasted message stored?+
The readable message is not saved. The system stores a one-way SHA-256 hash plus the score and triggered rule labels for aggregate diagnostics. Do not paste sensitive credentials.
Is a ScamShield report the same as a police case?+
No. It is an internal platform report for education, review, and trend management. Report criminal matters through the appropriate official channels as well.
What evidence files can I upload?+
JPG, PNG, WebP, and PDF files up to 5 MB. Redact passwords, OTPs, PINs, full card numbers, and unrelated personal information.
What should I do after sharing an OTP or banking password?+
Contact the bank immediately using its official app or published fraud number, ask it to secure the account, change affected credentials from a trusted device, and preserve evidence.
Why must I create an account to report?+
Authentication links each submission to a dashboard, limits abuse, and allows the user to track a report reference and review status.
